Who We Are
Sony International Ltd is a prominent real estate and entertainment company, founded in 1983 by Mr. Mohammad Hossain.
The company is a family-run enterprise, with Mr. Hossain, his wife, and their three children serving as directors. Driven by a vision to provide world-class shopping and entertainment experiences, Sony International Ltd has become a significant player in Dhaka’s urban development landscape.
The company's journey began with the establishment of its first venture, Sony Cinema & Market, in Mirpur in 1986.
For 24 years, this complex served the local community, meeting the needs of movie-goers and shoppers.
In 2010 recognizing the need for modernization and a desire to elevate local standards, Mr. Mohammad Hossain and his son, Mr. Sajjad Hossain, initiated a massive investment program.
Sony Square Mall
After having successfully met the needs of Mirpur’s movie-goers and shoppers for 34 years, the time was ripe for a modernisation programme fit for the 21st Century. Mr. Mohammad Hossain’s vision had been to raise the standards of the complex, in line with rising standards of locals. He asked himself one question, ‘why go to Gulshan and Banani, when we can bring them to Mirpur?’ This gave birth to a massive modernisation programme to transform the cinema hall and market to ‘Sony Square.’ Both Mr. Mohammad Hossain and his son, Mr. Sajjad Hossain, made a huge investment drive to transform the heart of Mirpur. Movie-goers and shoppers would find the same high standards of products and services at Sony Square, as they would in Gulshan and Banani.

Time Square
Building on the success of Sony Square, the company expanded its footprint in 2022 with the establishment of its second mall, Time Square, in the important Shamoly area of Dhaka.
Time Square continues the company’s tradition of offering a curated mix of retail, food, and beverage options, including popular brands like Infinity Mega Mall and Twelve, a well-established food court, the Oro coffee shop, and the rooftop restaurant Italia.
Icon Village
Sony International Ltd continues its growth trajectory with a third mall Icon Village currently under construction in Savar, adjacent to Dhaka. This upcoming project aims to replicate the high standards and comprehensive facilities found at both Sony Square and Time Square, further solidifying the company's position as a leader in creating modern, family-oriented lifestyle destinations.
